Studio Showcase: Celebrating 1 year

Opening this studio in March of 2023 was a joyous leap of faith! A long time goal to open a space to create has been such a roller-coaster journey. Located inside the historic Fauntleroy Schoolhouse, this space has been a community gathering place and is home to many other businesses.

To open the studio here felt like a homecoming of sorts. I had been renting a classroom that is open as an hourly rental for 8 years, schlepping my gear in and out per client session. In the winter of 2022, it felt like time to explore a more stable spot, and lucky for me the opportunity aligned! Moving in 2023 felt risky because of the unstable economy. But, thankfully between both my Native Light Photography branding clients and my Holli with an i personal portrait clients, this space keeps holding space for creativity!

In gratitude and celebration, I chose 24 of my all time favorite portraits to share - narrowed down by two criteria: permission to share publicly, and most variety of my work. It made for a very fun show, because there was a mix with 2 portraits from my film photography, one as far back as 2000. That bit of trivia made the showcase a bit of a game to see who could tell which were the film among the many digital portraits. Every portrait I have created has as story, and this event helped me share some of them.

I was honored to see both clients from the two branches of my photography plus a student from my South Seattle College class days! And, I can't forget to mention the family who came out too. I'm immensely grateful all those who support me and my photography work.

Big thanks to Brigit of Life as A Voyager photography for creating these photographs of the event! Here is a slice of the experience to share the joy (all photos shared with permission from attendees). I look forward to celebrating many more years with all of your support!
